It’s been said that nothing makes a more lonesome sound in the world than a train whistle. For 100 years–from the early to mid 1800s into the mid 1900s, trains were the lifeblood of America, and trains were featured in popular songs.
Woody Guthrie did his own recording of this traditional folk tune in the 1940s.
