Chills and Fever

CHILLS AND FEVERiTunes//Amazon//Spotify

Ronnie Love originally recorded "Chills & Fever" for Dot Records in 1960 and then re recorded and released a new version in '61 as Johnny Love And The Orchestra on Startime Records. I personally think the second version on Startime is a little more laid back and vibey and has a stronger sax solo. They're both great though. Between 1960 and 1961 Startime released only three singles. The three singles include this one, along with "Shakin' and Breakin" by Ronnie Love, and "You On My Mind" by Walter Brown & Art Clyde Combo. This is our third HARD R&B track this week...to say that we're having fun recording these songs is an understatement.

If You See Mary Lee

____if you see mary leeiTunes//Amazon//Spotify

This song was first released as simply "Mary Lee" by the Rainbows on Boston's Pilgrim Records in 1956. Then, two years later they re-recorded it and called it "If You See Mary Lee" which was the first single for the Los Angeles record label Firefly (Jan-Lar) Records in 1958. Firefly (Jan-Lar) put out singles in 1958 like How Will I Know by The Strands, Car Crash by the Cadets, and tunes by the Castle-Tones,The Ontarios, and the Rocketeers. This is our take on If You See Mary Lee.

Happy 4th of July everyone.
