Red Allen was the first guy that I heard playing this song. The great Hank Snow recorded it in the 50's, and Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins even took a crack at it. Here's our take..

The kids that play on this song are very talented musicians. We have Dash and Tim Hutton, who formed a band called the Telecasters on here. Dash also plays with Haim. The two brothers are singing with me on the chorus. They have great voices, and their dad Danny Hutton who's in Three Dog Night, has an incredible voice too. The whole family is humble, kind and pleasant to be around. This is our take on an old Rancid song originally recorded in 1992.

When I'm down and need a lift I'll play a Buddy Holly song--strong guitar riffs and fun to sing...and just like that I feel better! Buddy Holly & The Crickets originally recorded this tune in 1958. Buddy and his band wrote their own songs, which wasn't so common in the 1950s, and he was much bigger in the UK than in America..bigger than Elvis.

A statue now stands in Buddy's hometown of Lubbock Texas with Buddy holding his Fender Stratocaster guitar.

When Johnny Cash found out that Johnny Horton had passed away he said "I locked myself in one of the hotel's barrooms, and cried...Johnny Horton was a good friend of mine." Johnny Horton wrote some great songs that I really dig and one is "When It's Springtime In Alaska". This is our take on another great song written by Horton called "I'll Do It Every time."
