This song was recorded in Scranton, Pa. when I was tour with the Transplant$ during the 2005 Warped Tour ..The song features an 18 year old at the time, Kevin Bivona on piano. Kevin and I brought the tracks to California, and added Dash Hutton on drums, and Mike Bulger on horns.

Apparently this tune was banned from a lot of jukeboxes. Smokey Joe Wood - an Arizona born/ Oklahoma raised vocalist, performed the most well known version with the Modern Mountaineers. The song was originally recorded by them in San Antonio Texas on March 1, 1937 for Bluebird Records.

This one's an old tin pan alley hit that cashed in on the latest craze of a Rudy Vallentino film back in 1921. Jack Teagarden and Red Nichols both recorded versions of it, making it a jazz standard in the 1930s. One of the composers, Ted Snyder was posting theater bills and playing cafe piano in Chicago. Harry Smith was a music and drama critic in Chicago. They began collaborating on Broadway scores after moving to NYC.
