G.B.H. are hands down, one of the greatest punk bands. I first saw them in 1983 at the On Broadway in San Francisco. My brother Lars Frederiksen was at that same show but I didn’t know him at the time. We recently toured with G.B.H.– I always enjoy watching them play and thirty years later they still kill it. This song was originally on their Leather, Bristles, Studs & Acne EP, which came out in 1981. I always dug how this song started out bluesy, then turned into full-on hardcore.

My dad grew up listening to Cowboy Songs on a farm in El Centro California, which is in the Imperial Valley. So, we listened to a lot of Country Western as well. I must have heard this song a million times growing up and always liked it.

Honor Is All We Know
Written in the spirit of my work with Operation Ivy and the British Oi! band Cock Sparrer, I wrote this song during the financial bailout of Wall Street addressing the idea of hard times and importance of standing by your friends. I dug out my old Seville for this one and ran it through a Mesa Boogie amp, the same set-up I used in Op Ivy. The Bivona brothers from the Interrupters are my backing band, Jesse on drums and Kevin on guitar and bass. Originally released on the ‘Rock N Roll Theater’ album that accompanied ‘Dante’ in April 2012.

Originally released in 1973, this song was written by Ronnie Lane and Ron Wood for the Faces’ third album, also called ‘Ooh La La.’ As soon as Travis Barker heard my demo for this song, he wanted to play on it, we recorded at his studio the next day and made the video the day after. I have a long working relationship with both Travis and J Bonner. J is my favorite reggae bass player that I’ve played with and worked with me on Poet’s Life and the Jimmy Cliff album. Travis is in the Transplants with me. I’m so fortunate to get to play with these guys. In the video, there’s a shot of me standing on a garbage can on the corner of Durant and Telegraph, in the distance, you can see the church where my parents were married in 1958. This song is dedicated to my dad Don Armstrong 1931-2012
