Antoine “Fats” Domino originally recorded this in 1951 for Lew Chudd’s Imperial Records, a powerhouse R&B label that put out a lot of strong tracks for Domino’s label-mates such as Poison Gardner, King Porter, T-Bone Walker and Smiley Lewis. Many of those R&B smokers were recorded at Cossimo Matasas studio in New Orleans. Fat’s band back in ’51 featured Walter Papoose Nelson-guitar, William Drummond bass, Wendell Duconge- alto sax, Robert “Buddy” Hagans on tenor sax, and Cornelius Coleman on drums.
