"Dinah" was written by three vaudevillian songwriters. Two of the three, Lewis And Young, wrote "Rock A Bye Your Baby With A Dixie Melody". Joe Young wrote lyrics to "In A Shanty, In Old Shanty Town", a hit in 1932.

Sham 69 is one of Rancid’s favorite bands of all time. One of my favorite scenes in the movie Rude Boy is when Joe Strummer invites Jimmy Pursey of Sham 69 onstage to sing with the Clash. It’s a great moment. This is the twins and I doing our take on a classic!

W.C. Handy, "father of the blues" grew up in a log cabin in Alabama, built by his grandfather.
At an early age, studied the cornet at a local barbershop.
He was a collector/anthologizer of blues tunes, a historian and music publisher. Waiiting for a train he heard a musician playing his guitar with a knife for a pick, and singing about a local spot where two railroad's crossed. He called it "the weirdest music I'd ever heard". The song stayed in his head and became "Yellow Dog Blues", a song he would publish along with this one..
